Beating the storm…

Today’s family was originally scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.  I had a family cancel for today - so we changed days to try and beat ‘ole Fay that will most likely bring lots of rain tomorrow.  It was a beautiful day for pictures.  We met at Huntington Beach State Park - it’s been a while since I’ve worked there.  Almost forgot how beautiful it is!!

I photographed this wonderful family last year.  It’s always a pleasure to have clients return!  The kids have grown up so much over the past year.  The little one was only weeks old when I met him last…and today he was toddling around all by himself!  His big sisters were full of smiles for me and looked lovely in their matching dresses!

Here are your “sneak peeks” from our time together - I do hope you love them!

No match for me!!!

This afternoon I met with 10yo C.  Such a handsome young man….who was a tough nut to crack!  We worked and worked and WORKED for these smiles.  I can’t say that I blame him…I mean, a trip all the way from Ontario - I’d much rather play in the ocean than have my picture taken.  Once I felt like we had gotten 2-3 smiles (ha ha ha - I am surprised that I actually got more than that) we let him jump in.  The waves were bigger than normal and I think the final score was C 2 - waves 10, ha ha ha.

I enjoyed working for those smiles…and I do hope you like what we were able to capture!  Enjoy the rest of your vacation and be safe getting back up north!

We started off with some pretty good eye contact - and even a quick smile or two.

Just  because I promised him that I would put at least ONE of his “faces” on the blog…..ha ha ha - THIS is what I was getting most of the session!

FINALLY….now THIS is a smile!

…and Ohhhhhhhh, the reward!

What a great weekend!

We had an absolutely wonderful weekend in Greensboro, NC!  My girls rode great…and made me very proud (as usual).  Miss B. and “Snickers” did very well and brought home lots of ribbons.  It was a bittersweet weekend because it was Mack’s last show with “Clever” (her horse).  She will be leaving for college next weekend.  We will miss her greatly - but know she will do very well!  Good luck on your try outs for the Equestrian Team!

Here are a few pics they sent me….and I’m happy to share them here on my blog!

Another weekend out of town…

Once again I will be heading out of town today for a long weekend of horse showing. I’ve got both of my kiddos going this time - so we are in for a great time! I made a great little tack stall banner that says “Nat’s Brats” - which is VERY suiting, lol. I’ll have to get a pic of us under it and post it here.

If you need to reach me - I may have cell service…and I may have internet access, but not sure. I will be back Monday to answer all e-mails.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

The B Family…

I know you guys are wondering where your sneak peeks have been! Here they are!!!

On Monday I met with the B family. We met a little earlier than usual hoping that their 18mo would be happier. It was quite bright out - however as we walked down the path down to the beach a lone cloud covered the sun. So instead of my normal, calm intro into the session….we jumped right in, taking advantage of the short lived shade. Their kiddos were such cutie pies - and behaved very well!

I do hope you guys enjoyed our time together! Here are the long awaited previews~

Be back Monday!

I will be heading out of town again this weekend and will return on Monday.  If you need to reach me you can try my cell phone.  Just leave a message if I don’t answer (not sure how my service will be).  I will check and respond to all e-mails when I return!

Enjoy your weekend!

Master S. - 4 month session

I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Master S. this afternoon!  Oh my goodness was he a CUTIE PIE!!!  He was so very serious when he starting modeling for me, ha ha.  His daddy was leaping around and bouncing a toy alligator over my head trying to get some smiles.   Finally by the end of his sessions (when we snuck outside) he gave us some big gummy grins.  I spotted a great chair inside and made dad drag it outdoors for me, he he (couldn’t help myself).

I really enjoyed working with you guys!  Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to meet and photograph your handsome little man :)!

Sweltering days = evening storms

Yesterday evening I met with the E family.  As we pulled up on location the thunder rumbled in the distance.  The heat index has been around 106 the past few days.  With that, comes evening thunder boomers!  Luckily the storm stayed a bit south of us - but the dark clouds blocked out most of the suns light.  We worked quickly to use the light that we did have.

They were such a cute family!  I was thrilled when they pulled out a fishing pole from their car.  Dad and 10yo C. love fishing together… and I think it’s wonderful that they wanted to document it!

As the session was coming to an end, the storm had turned the sky an erie yellow.  So I changed my settings a bit and captured some great silhouettes of their family.

This is what the sky looked like just after our session.  Not the best lighting strike image - but glad I caught it!

Still crazy round these parts!

Just a little update for those of you waiting on your galleries to go live!

I’ve made it through most of my July sessions - only have 4 left.  If you are one of those 4, it looks like editing is running about 2-3 weeks.  Most of my Fri,Sat, Sun’s are spent out of town with my other job (coaching at horse shows) and a lot of my time is being taken up by our move.  So please bear with me just a bit longer and your session galleries will be up as soon as possible!

I do thank you for your understanding!

Thinking ahead for Christmas!!!

Sooooooo, this year is zooming right along.  So quickly in fact, that I’m already starting to think about Christmas.  I have an idea in my head that just may work….BUT, I NEED YOUR HELP!

Whether you are planning to use me or not for your Christmas pics this year - I’d LOVE to hear your opinions, ideas, thoughts, etc,.

In the comments box under this post - please answer the following questions (that is if you have a moment):

1.  Do you have yearly Christmas pictures taken?

2.  What is the main thing on your mind when having Christmas pictures taken (i.e.: X-mas cards, wallet prints for relatives, prints for gifts, etc).

3.  Would you prefer custom Christmas cards or a high resolution digital image to make your own cards?

4.  Do you like package options or would you prefer to purchase a’la carte?

5.  For your Christmas pictures would you prefer a full session or the option of a mini-session?

Keep in mind, if you are planning to have me take your Holiday pictures this year - the deadline for Christmas orders is November 15th this year!

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions!
